The Annual Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair, 2011.

29 Nov

Last Sunday, Sutton Coldfield Town Hall (West Midlands, UK) became a Classic

treasure trove filled with many glittering jewels, laid out on tables, on floors, hanging on clothes rails, embellishing sparkly dresses and decorating winter woollies.  There were a great many precious gems to be found inside as the annual 2011,  Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair came to town and the old hall was cram packed with smelly leather gloves, dusty handbags and cheeky old boots all back in nostalgic fashion to take vengeance on the excited hearts of

all the amazed girlies who crowded in and out in their hundreds…to fight for

what was rightly theirs!  Despite the competition from so many punters flocking in from all over the county, searching for those rare fashion finds, the atmosphere was still bursting with friendly warmth; as all the Boutiques invited more and more customers to flick, scan and finger through their

remarkable collections of selected hand-picked goodies.  The Town Hall was heaving so much – at times – it was hard to move around, but luckily there were plenty of precious goodies to go around!

Sowe is at the Custard Factory, Gibbs street, Birmingham, England.

TWIN PEAKS: 'Sowe' offer unique customised designs, vintage clothing, jewellery and accessories.

Here is a sneak at some goodies that were up for grabs alongside some photographs of just a few of the hottest, trendiest, ladies who were out on the day.

PhotoGiraffe Live Arts has also included links to the most impressive boutiques with The-Most-Rocking-Rubies in Vintage-Fashion that were to be seen on the day.

At the fair, every single piece in every single boutique was very unique, and if it wasn’t snapped up right there – then it would be gone forever; but this is the beauty of Vintage Clothing.  This is what makes vintage clothing more exclusive, yet inclusive for all those divas on a budget, looking for originality.

Upon the subject of prices; they varied from stall to stall from affordable to expensive – but all in all everything was very reasonable priced and comparatively cheaper than London, of course.  None-the-less, as vintage items become more collectable, rare and popular, the prices rise; so vintage can be a great investment for the future with quite an increase in its price.  So this is a good incentive to look after your own vintage purchases.

 Kims picks are on Facebook!

Bottle Green Vintage (Manchester) is on Facebook!

Long Elegant and Strapless. This 1980's beauty is made up of a sheer black velvet bodies attached to a gorgeous cotton floral, floating skirt to make a gorgeous evening or summer dress. Simply Stunning!

Fur or Faux?

Buying a Vintage Fur Coat is Eco-Friendly: Who can argue with that?! Recycling and re-using vintage clothing means you are not only doing your bit to help the earth by discouraging the production of more throw-away fashion. At the same time, you are also getting a much better quality, unique, individual product at a better price. We are surely not expected to waste the skin of the animal that was killed to keep us warm, right? That is a way of life for some people in certain parts of the world you know – particularly Eskimos for instance.

At the Sutton Vintage and Art Fair, dealers had flocked in from all over the country with their hand-picked beauties- not bought in bulk but – individually selected, checked, and laundered.  All you had to do was to take the pain to search for your favourite vintage find! The event was of course full of nostalgia for yesteryear, and there were a great many gorgeous ladies out on a Sunday, turning heads, with their unique vintage looks right out of the movies, creating conversations and being seen!  It was a sight a sore eyes, as PhotoGiraffe Live Art indulged in a fancy day out at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall with the likes of Rita Hayworth, Doris Day, Betty Davis and Twiggy who were all out at the weekend and in the Town Hall strutting their stuff.
